Slacker
There it goes again—thump-thump through the wall
That bass shakes my dentures right out in the hall
Got no respect, no curfew, no shame
Just noise and nonsense, and video game fame
I see ‘em draggin’ in at quarter past late
With pants round their knees and some half-eaten plate
No wristwatch, no hustle, just head in the cloud
And that migraine mix blarin’ way too loud
Slacker! You call that a lifestyle, kid?
Slacker! You’re louder than a trash can lid
Slacker! Late for life and proud of it too
If I had a whistle, I’d blow it at you
I remember the days when we showed up on time
Not five minutes late with some excuse or rhyme
Your “band” can’t play, it’s just buttons and screens
And that haircut? Son, what does it even mean?
You think you’re edgy ‘cause you scream and shout?
I knew a guy just like you—he never panned out
Wore that same glazed look, had that same lazy gait
Now he’s still livin’ with mama at age forty-eight
Slacker! You’re allergic to work and sweat
Slacker! Haven’t punched a time card yet
Slacker! You think talent’s a YouTube view
Well, I got news, boy—it ain’t followin’ you
You remind me of this kid I used to know—
All dreams, no discipline. Said he’d be a rock star…
He ended up tuning cars and tuning out.
Never trusted a slacker. Never will.
You got your headphones in while the world moves on
By the time you look up, opportunity’s gone
You’re not rebellious—you’re just always behind
I’d give you a hall pass, but you’d still miss the sign
Slacker! I’d write it on your file in red
Slacker! Still can’t get outta bed
Slacker! Even your excuses are late
One more missed chance, and that might seal your fate
Slackers… they’re all the same.
Loud music, late mornings, big dreams…
No follow-through. Never had any discipline.
Now get off my lawn.
